Is a driver the .sys file?

I'm fixing to wipe windows and I need to get my Blu ray driver onto a USB drive. Is it the .sys file or is it more than that?

It's probably more than that. What model drive do you have? If windows doesn't have a default driver to let you use it I'm sure someone can find a download for it.

Hehe, it is for my Vaio AR series notebook. The drivers aren't online. A couple of weeks ago somehow the driver messed up and went corrupt, so I looked on their website because they have several drivers available online but not this one. I contacted Sony through the online chat service and asked them if they could just give me a link for the download but she insisted on connecting to my computer remotely so she could install it herself.

I've looked around online to no avail. You're more than welcome to try to help me find it if you're fairly familiar with finding drivers online; the drive is a Matshita (a division of Panasonic) BD-MLT UJ220S.

I recently installed XP on the same laptop to have dual boot, but I cannot find an XP driver for that drive for the life of me. I looked for four or five hours through various forums and could not find an XP driver. If you think you know something I don't, please share it. I'm willing to take any advice.

Thank you. :)

Edit: Here is the link for my model's drivers offered by Sony online (to my knowledge at least). VGN-AR590E Drivers

Well I contacted Sony through their chat support and she said it's an OS driver, so Vista should be able to recognize the drive as being a BD drive as soon as Windows boots up. Doesn't mean it will play BDs because it needs software, but it will recognize it. I also asked if it was against warranty rules to dual boot or do a clean install and they weren't; but she strongly advised against it, hehe.
