I'm using premiere pro cs4 to edit HD footage but it requires at least 2.8 ghz processor speed. I only have 2.13 and editing the footage is way too sluggish.
So I bought a new processor, but apparently it's not compatible with my motherboard even though it has the LGA775 socket (after I installed it the cpu would turn on but with no display on the monitors and with a really loud fan noise).
I'm on a dell xps 410 (with win7 and this graphics card) and there is a bios update available, but after looking into the flashing process a bit I'm afraid to try it. Plus I really doubt it would fix the processor-incompatibility problem.
So I'm thinking I should just get a new motherboard (for under $50 or so). Do you have any recommendations? Can I just email intel and ask for one that's compatible with my dell and that processor/graphics card?
Or should I not get the new mobo and try something else?
Big thanks for any advice.
