Is a PhysX Card worth getting?

Not too expensive, but is it worth getting one? and Is $160 A good price for one brand new? And what games dose it work with????

I have not heard of any games that are programmed to take advantage of them. I could be wrong... I personally would not spend the money on one at the moment. Perhaps they will be of more use in the future. Depending on what hardware you have already, I'd put the money toward a better sound card (if applicable) or ram or something.

no, because there is very few games that support PhysX Card

Also, don't forget that the new G80 video cards can do physics processing, so it is better to spend money on 8800GTS/GTX than to spend money on PhysX Card

No, I think only 1 or 2 games out right now use it, just a waste of money until more games come out that utilize it. I know Crysis will use it, so probably many games after that comes out will.

Buy it and sell it on eBay. You'll make a profit! They cost around £150 / $280 new.

Link?

No, so far the only games I've heard supporting it are:
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
City of Villains
Bet On Soldier

It doesn't seem to add much to the games right now though.

No that's not true at all! I know over 10+ games use it! Even on the 3DMark it has the PhysX card on the bottom of the games that recommends it! Also games like Tomb Raider needs it to go next Gen! there are many games that use it!

Speaking of not being true! :P. Tomb raider does not need it to go next gen.

Now remember, you asked for advice and people are giving it. Don't get too excited ;). Now it sounds like you really want this? If so buy it. I don't think that at this point It will improve performance by that much. Also games don't "NEED" it. Why in the heck would they create a game that requires a piece of hardware that "most" people do not have? Meanwhile I've played Legends with next gen on a PC that does not have one ;). You really need to get those facts straight before posting.

The PhysX card makes no difference in 3DMark06. Even though it says it, people have ran that benchmark with and without it with no difference in their score.

GRAW is probably the most well known game that the PhsyX card works well with, and which increases performance.

Hmm....Someone told me that Tomb Raider DID need when I asked about it almost 1 year ago.....

is the 8800gtx worth getting?
haha basically the same question... WUT??
yea, no games support directX 10 or the physics that physx cards are capable of processing.
however, if you get the 8800gtx and a physx card... then DAYUM thats one heck of a comp. lol

Wonder what will happen when DX11 comes out......................"So you say I only need 13 GB of RAM do do bare minimum with Vista X2????"
"That's right. and only 15 for decent gaming"

My view of the future......sadly.....

(vista needs more than 1 GB of RAM to work OK at gaming.........that's where I got the thought from)

Like what?? Vista isn't even released to the general public yet, so no one can even take advantage of DX10 cards.

Off the top of my head I can't recall any. I know I've posted in another thread not too long ago a link to a game that recommended DX10 capable cards. But it may not have been released yet. Wish I could find my post...
