I have a client who wants me to take an image of his slow, gunked up, virused network server, clean it up, and reinstall the image on a new RAID arranged PC. is there really any benefit to using RAID?
It depends on how reliable your client wants his storage to be. A server can consist of just another computer where stuff is stored but if that goes down then all the stored data is lost. A RAID network, whilst not infallable, does make data storage much safer. There are other storage methods but you would have to look those up. Every where where I have worked has used some form of RAID network AND alternative storage locations.
