Is Ad-Aware A Good Security Program?

I Am Looking For a good free internet security program and i am wondering if Ad-Aware Free Is very Good, I Have Heard Both Good And Bad About this software but i just need more opinions...
Keep In Mind My Specs...
1 GHz PIII
256 MB RAM
Windows 2K Pro SP4
Dont Make Fun Of My Specs Please I Am Trying to Get A Better Computer But Currently Cant Afford It... :confused:
 
Ad-Aware isn't exactly internet security. You're better off going for Microsoft Security Essentials or Avast.
 
well kind of both, and please remember my specs are you sure MS Security Essentials Would Work On W2K? Or The Latest Version Of Avast?
 
you could try avg free anti-virus you will probably need an older version 7.0 or 8.0
and you could try malwarebytes antimalware again go for an older version
 
Malwarebytes will work on windows 2000. I would not use AVG, use AVAST instead. You need an active virus program, malwarebytes free version is not an active scanner, unless you buy the paid version.
 
I Decided To Go With Avast Anti Virus And Malwarebytes... And They Seem To Work Well... Thanks For All Of The Help Guys!

So what is wrong with Ad-Aware ?
It use to be for malware/spyware but the free edition now adds anti-virus and basic realtime protection, so yes, it is an 'Internet Security Program'. I don't know how good it is but it does run on your OS, plus the scanning speed is good.
 
I just Decided to go with avast! and Malwarebytes for windows 2k

in my opinion, it use to be a good app, but there are better ones otu there now so no need to use ad-aware. IMO of course
 
although ad aware is not full scale internet security I find it to be a good program. I have used it and find is discovers spyware other programs overlook.
