is conroe worth it

Is it worth the wait til conroe comes out. Is it worth going with Intel then AMD am2 because of it?
 
If benchmarks are any indication then it will be worth the wait for Conroe. I don't have any interest in AM2 because all it does is allow you to use DDR2 from what I understand.
 
yea plus it'll have this "anti-hyperthreading" which is a false name... its more of a reverse hyperthreading. plus, quad core :)
THAT WOULD BE FAST! quad core with reverse hyperthreading.. WOW! lol
 
The official name for the Conroe is the Core 2 Duo, and the name for the Kentsfield is the Core 2 Quad.

Personally i think it's work the wait for either one, but i would thing that the Core 2 Quad would be fairly expensive. I would wait until this summer and get the Core 2 Duo.
 
like I was planning on going with AMD. But with all this talk about conroe, i've been thinking about going with intel.

Like all I want is a pc that is fast. I want a good multi tasker but able to play a few games here and then. I just hate waiting on a slow comp.

Or would an X2 b fine? I dont need the latest and greatest, I just want something that will perform well

Haha.... fairly expensive is one way to look at it.... making Athlon 64 FX look reasonably priced is another. i would wait until both intel and amd's competing chips are out and compare them for their merits.
Although intel will have a lead for a while AMD's K8L in my opinion sounds promising to me too
