Is Dell good?

now that you bring up the crappy dell situation I rememer my first laptop (I call them CRAPTOP, you need to pay 5 times more to get an exqivelant laptop compated to desktop if you can even find a good one)

but anyway, I had a dell insptron 1000, it worked for a few months, then it would give me the blue screen of death.. turned out it was a common problem with the mobo, so I got it fixed under warenty, then it happened again a few months later.. dell knew about it and they did nothing to fix it besides put in a new but equally as defectave mobo, this happened every three months or sooner and it got fixed atleast 4 times under warenty for the same thing, then once it got fixed and was almost out of warenty I sold it while it was working.. I feel bad for the person who owns it now..

Say No to Drugs. Say No to Dell

Half a year ago, i bought a Dell 5150, i exchanged it 3 times and it always came with a bad part, either the HD or the RAM or the stupid motherboard. I spent almost 2000 dollars on that Dell. Its not worth it.

Get a VAIO or a Mac

You want to buy a Dell..........?

Please. Don't.

I'm gonna take the build route again. Newegg dilemma aside, it's still a better option.

I had a botched computer build from Newegg.com (warped case, which fried the motherboard, which fried everything else). I'm just returning everything (at a loss, darn customer service), and I plan on buying a complete computer from a company to avoid all this stress.

I've never known anyone who has had a bad Dell experience, but some computer nerd friends of mind said Dell uses inferior parts, or too-low-wattage power supplies, or cheap motherboards, or something along those lines. Except for that, I would buy from Dell in the blink of an eye.

I'd specifically get the XPS 410 desktop, with some upgrades. Thoughts?

Thank you!
Naftali

All pre build computer use inferior parts, the PSU wattage are low.
they are only built for minimal upgrades. you can request a higher wattage PSU and other parts but you will pay dearly for them.

I have built tons of computer and I beleave this is the only way to go if you what a powerhouse system.
If you are unable to build a system for any reason I would go with HP.

I have never owned a Dell but the company I work for uses both Dell and HP, I support 5000+ users on these system and the Dells are by far the biggest pieces of crap Ive seen since the Packard Bells.

And BTW stay as far away from CompUsa as you can.

Yeah, HP (used to be Compaq) are very good, my 1st PC was a Compaq and it had lasted like 4 years, up untill I got the one I have now, they're a lot better than Dell!

HP was not Compaq  dont even say that :D
HP bought out Compaq around 2001,
Compaq was not a system to game on they was slow and laggy even on
the most basic of games.

well

i think HP makes solid computers. I would have made my own bu i din't have the cash$$ instead i bought a HP a1350n using teh credit card, and just upgraded it. So far i've had no problem with it, and the technical support is ftw. If you ever have any questions abouit your machine or how to do something, all you do is go to their website and in under 5 minutes, i timed this, they were helping me. HP=A+

Oh btw, my current build is

Hp A1350n

Amd x2 4200++
2 GB Dual Channel Pc3200
XFX 7900 GS XXX
AcerAl722
Logitech X540 5.1 Speakers

It's not the best PC evar but it runs most games at max.
