I heard Radeon is starting to come out with some cards that are competing with Geforce now. What are some thoughts on this?

Starting...no no...they are out now..

check out the 4800-series of ATI cards..they are phenomenal..

i heard that ,although they may be better hardware-wise, the drivers for ATI cards are very difficult to work with... i may be wrong tho

How are they difficult to work with?

You downloa.....I mean...you acquire them legally and install them.

Most games today usually partner with Nvidia so if you have a Nvidia card, it's most likely that you'll get a couple more fps compared to the ATi ones.

ATi only beats Nvidia right now because they have the HD 4870 X2, which is basically 2 cards melted into one PCI-E slot.

Nvidia however only has the GTX 280 and is so far the most powerful single GPU card out on the market.

The choice is yours.

Thats only if you are looking at the highest end video card, without going into sli or crossfire.

Dont forget the 3870, 4850, and 4870.

The 4870 is on par pretty much with the 260, though ive seen it be better than a 280 as well.

Right now, I say that ATI, price and performance is doing better than Nvidia, but who knows. A new product can come out soon and completey change it, then it will flip again and again. its best not to be a fan boy and just buy what is the best at the time of purchase.

seriously... what does it matter... ati has a single pci-e slot card that beats any other card so people draw the conclusion that because it has two cores its not as good? thats EXACTLY like saying your dual core isnt as good as my old AMD 3400 because yours only beats it since its a dual core. its EXACTLY the same logic.

Point being, when Nvidia releases their GX2, HD 4870 X2 probably wouldn't be the best.

ok, so why say a GTX 280 is better because ATI's card that beats it is a dual core, and then go back and say Nvidia is going to beat ATI's dual core card with a dual core card as well??? that makes no sense.
