I have an averatec laptop. It started freezing on my. No viruses were found. One test I ran showed bad Hard Drive. I bought a new one and put a fresh install of vista on it. It also keeps freezing and now it started losing the hard drive. It will say that it cant find the drive. Then it will appear again. I ran a scan on both Hard Drives from bios and they are good. I checked the RAM and it is good. Tested the CMOS battery and the power supply and they are good. Am I missing anything or is it the motherboard. I don't want to pay someone to tell me that its the motherboard because if so it is not worth repairing. Thanks for any suggestions.

It sounds like the connection between the HDD and MOBO. I agree with the post above, it will be better to just buy a new laptop versus trying to repair this one.
