i'm not real fancy with what is value for money so i was hoping someone could help me out, i've been offered Acer veriton used government pc
INTEL CORE 2 DUO 2.3GHZ
4GB RAM
300GB HDD
DUAL LAYER DVD BURNER
5.1 SOUND
10 USB PORTS
WINDOWS 7 PROFESSIONAL
FULL ANTIVIRUS & SECURITY
$400
curent system is
windows xp
1.25gb ram
intel(R) celeron cpu 2.4GHz
matrox mellennium G400 dual head
foxconn 648FXGMR motherboard

what i need from a computer generaly:
multitasking for firefox, 2 windows 20tabs each
google earth
powerpoint
word

mostly interent surfing and powerpnt would be good, i find firefox easily takes up 100% CPU when i'm surfing and constantly lags, it's silly but i have a dual monitor set up but my computer seems too slow to multitask!:mad:
ow and don't play games ):

any help would be much appreciated!

What is the graphics card offered.

So far so good, prety cheap for such set up, definately better than what you have now by a mile. i would get it. although if you really want you can get a nice set up for around 700-900$, which would be even better. but i think you just want ti for surfing, so as long as the goverment computer has reasonable GPU, i would say go ahead.
