Is it ok to mount them horizontally?

Or doeas it have to be vertically like the rear exhaust fan?

I don't recommend mounting them vertically. You can try it, but they spin noticeably slower, is slightly louder, and will burn out rather quickly if you do so.

I don't think it'd make much difference to the bearings or anything. In actually fact, I think it'd make them easier to run, with regards to the bearings and motor. Some cases have additional spots for horizontal mounted fans (like the CM690), some even come with pre-installed horizontal mounted fans (like the Antec 900/1200).

Im confused i would think it would be ok running and such but i don't see why you would want it it seems there would be no air flow

correct me if im wrong but if you mounted it at the bottom of the case wouldn't it just push the hot air into other components?

moving across the boards and no air blowing against the boards to me would make best since. Best scenario i can think of is fan on the top and blowing to the bottom of the tower then trying to circulate between the boards. ive seen some towers though, one fan pushing air and the other sucking between the boards. mine on the back works fine. but then no, its just my thought.
cheers.......

why though.

I bought 2 Coolermaster LED fans, and I put the black one on the side, and one horizontally.

But the thing is, I dont know if its sleeve or ball bearing.

I guess im gonna have to put it on the side... just to be safe

What happens if it mounted horizontally?

It should say the bearing type on the fan.

doesnt really affect it too much i have a 120 sleeve bearing running jsut fine on the top of my antec 300 as long as they are well oiled fans it will be jsut fine

the fan isnt support ed by anything really but a magnetic feild you can test this yourself by taking the blades off of your fan next time you clean your case

i have one of my fans running without the back washer on it right now running jsut fine (waiting to get glow paint ^.^)
