Is it an evil virus

OK I have been having major problems with my pc, like messages saying IRQL not less or equal, and Chkdsk running everytime I boot up windows. I think this is either a virus or a deleted window file, only problem is that I just deleted all the files in the recycle bin (for disk cleanup yes I know that was stupid). So it may be a virus. I havent ran my antivirus yet, but I ran it before the problems started oucouring. Is there a virus that can shut down my antivirus program, and delete windows files? Also I may have installed the wrong chipset update, could that be cousing problems? I may just reinstall windows, but will that solve my problems? Also will that delete my vidiocard drivers, and will I need to partition and reformat my drive? Any help apreciated I'm running my antivirus program as soon as I defrag my hard drive I'll let you know how it goes

Help :o

IRQ_EQUAL_TO_OR_LESS_THAN BSoD's are usually dealing with the HDD and/or drivers of windows (even though the IRQ is used for hardware settings). Does it show the BSoD EVERYTIME you turn on the comp?

right, either or. A computer i diagnosed 2 days ago with that bsod, memtest brought up 7511 memory errors in the first 5 minutes! But i also see more bad hardrives than i see bad memory. I think you may be right on this one..(especially since chkdsk keeps on wanting to run...) :)
