Is it Android or my network that just lost my Job interview.

Quick Back story, Had a phone interview which i passed I was then invited for a face to face interview with a prep call booked for the day before. This was last week.
Where I worked is a also a reception blackspot and I had not deleted a previous voicemail so I still had the symbol for voicemail in the corner.

So now I get a email saying if they dont here from me before 5 (its now 8.00) they will withdraw me, so I check my phone, they have called several times and left 4 or 5 messages, I have had no notification of this and no notification of missed calls.

Is this android or my network?
 
I could be wrong but if you have something saved in your vioce mail or you have not checked it then it should keep pooping up on your phone cause it does with mine so maybe network.
 
Maybe, I got a job atm and this one was a little bit better, you can see I am trying to console myself lol, I did a bit of research and seems a common prob that android doesnt make a strong enough notification when you have a new VM.
In the uk when you check a voicemail but dont delete or save it this icon appears:

And it stays there, android doesnt give significant notification about any other new messages after that, like every other phone I have ever had, but still I should have got notifcation of missed calls by SMS, I was getting SMS alerts when I was in thailand, still on a UK sim, about missed calls from people trying to sell me stuff, but not for this ?!?!?!??!?!?
 
Mine shows the voicemail symbol at the top until I actually delete my messages. Each time I get a new voicemail regardless if the icon is there or not I'll get an SMS from the carrier saying I have X new voicemails. I am using Android on the Bell Network.

What about when you pull down the notification bar? It always tells me I have X number of voicemails.

Or you can check your voicemail when you have messages, chances are you should listen to them.
 
On my particular flavor of Android is shows the icon but also a little green circle with a number on it showing the number of unheard voicemails. I also keep the voicemail app icon on my main page and it shows it there.

You can blame your network for not having service where you were or you can blame Android for not having a more descriptive/visual notification. But honestly, you knew you were in a deadzone and you knew that you were expecting a call so while it's definitely understandable that you would have missed it you don't really have anyone to blame but yourself.

When I pull down the notification it just displays that Icon without any number, regardless of how many messages.
Trouble is on my network even after you listen to the message if you forget to delete it or save that Icon stays there and since it cost money to check your voice mail in the UK i didnt check I just assumed I would get a text to say a voicemail was left as well as something like you mentioned with a number next to the icon, which I have always got before on any network with a multitude of diff phones. But it didn't

I think it is a bit of both, I also have had the default ringtone on for notifications so whenever I get any notification, voicemail, low disk space or just one of my apps, it makes the same noise, so maybe I am partly to blame, but you learn from your mistakes :)

Still love android tho :)
