Is it necessary to change passwords after being infected?

Been having some problems with spyware over the last week.

My computer was infected with some spyware, which caused hijacking of my browser homepage. Fake security alerts also began appearing. Having researched the net, i followed some instructions and I done a scan using 'smitfraudfix' in Safe Mode, which cleared these problems.

However now that these problems are sorted, i was wondering if it is necessary to change all my passwords for computer applications such as messenger and email accounts. As i understand it, Spyware can track information such as this and therefore i am concerned as to whether my passwords were picked up whilst the spyware was on the machine. I've also done some online banking, which require very personal information, therefore I am pretty worried about this.

I would really appreciate if anyone can let me know if it is necessary or advisable to change passwords and other personal information after such spyware's have been in the system.

It wouldn't hurt, you are supposed to change them somewhat often anyways...

For added security make 'more secure' passwords. Include special characters and capitals and number, for example.

*BLUE_Orange1

instead of

blueorange

Just a thought.
