Is it ok to mix SD and DDR ram in the same motherboard? Or even DDR of different speeds? If not could anyone explain why

you can run different speed together but it will run at the speed of the slowest stick
Quick note, some motherboards do have different sets of slots, one for SD-RAM and one for DDR(or newer, some have DDR and DDR2)... However, I have heard due to different voltages, mixing RAM using the two slots will short components out... I'm not sure if this is correct as I have mixed RAM on VERY old SD/EDO RAM boards and it worked fine...but something to consider![]()
Come to think of it, I had a Super Socket 7 board that had 4 simms and 2 sd ram slots and the manual said do not mix ram types. Well you know the way we fool around with stuff, I put both in and it ran fine. Left it like that for awhile till I got 2 bigger sticks of sdram and it never gave me no problems
