is it possible i laptop monitor as a monitor for my desktop(without taking it apart)?

My dad bought be parts to build my first computer he spend just a little under $800 he didnt want to spend over that. i got everything exept for a nice monitor so i have to use an old CRT and its very very big. so thats when i thought hmm what if i use a laptop monitor for the desktop monitor that way i dont have a gigantic screen on my desk taking up all the room. if you can suggest anything please do thanks!

You can, but after purchasing the stuff you need to convert, you'd end up spending about as much as with a cheap LCD.
