as you can see i have a MSI k7t turbo LE mobo.
i got this one cuz it wasnt working.
then i bought a MSI K7T Ver:2 (wich has the same bois, but is slower)
swiched bois and it was working fine.
now i want to try to restore the old bois by flashing it, the only problem is, it has been completely erased, so it cant be done the normal way.

is it possible to do this in windows (well. i'm pretty shure it can, cuz once started up, a pc run's without a bios) and what program do i have to use?

Um...hehe, i don't think you have a full grasp on how the bios works ;P Anyway, they all are basically done while the computer is running. Typically they run in dos for safty reasons...

You'll probably just have to find another bios if your chip is already ruined or blanked out. Unless you have some way or programming it(they do have little eprom programmers) there's not much else you can do without the computer... I guess you're doesn't have the built in restore? I've seen some that when the bios is ruined, it searches the floppy drive for a rom...

sorry if im unclear.. well.. english isnt my main language :(

anyway, i have 2 bios chips.
1 is workin, 1 isnt.
now, i want to startup my machine with the working one, and then put the broken on into my pc, to flash it in windows.

-_-.. :( ok, i thought that would be clear. :P

no, its about 2 bios chips and 1 mobo.
i want to put the bios chip, wich needs to be flashed, into the pc after it started windows (because its completely erased, so i cant even get into dos with it.)

so you have to bios chips, physical things. 1 of which is working and the other doesnt. you want to boot into windows with the working bios chip and change them over?

i dont think this can be done. however you can flash a new bios from with in windows, but im not sure if all motherboards can do this, but my gigabyte can, as it came with a program to do so.

so yes it is possible to flash a bios from with in wondows. but no, you cant take out the bios chip whilst the computer is running.

Quote: "After it has started Windows". Well, you run the risk of damaging your motherboard and locking up Windows because after you take the chip out while the system is running (hoping you don't get electrocuted to death), there won't be a Basic Input Output System for an OS and most hardware to use.

Solution: If you can flash the bad BIOS chip via boot floppy, go for it. If you can run an automated BIOS update utility program in Windows, go for it. Otherwise, use the working chip!
