Is it possible to have a dashboard-type setup like the mac os does?

I'm talking about all those little icons at the bottom of the screen that allow you to jump right to that program. Also is is possible to make a desktop icon that when clicked, will immediately take me to my yahoo mail inbox?

Try this for the second point.

Not so sure about the first one, however for the second one you should just be able to create a desktop link. Go to your inbox and right click and click on create shortcut, however for this you will have to allow it to use it's "remember me" feature.

In Windows Vista/7 they added widgets which allow you to sort of do this. If you google it you can find examples.
