Is it possible to kill a pci card when overclocking

I wanted to overclock my computer so I 1st updated the bios, then followed given instructions for my motherboard.
After that, the pci sound card (e-mu 1212m) was detected as new hardware and I'm not able to reinstall it properly. Even after finishing the installation successfully it keeps showing with a yellow exclamation mark in the device manager and a code 10 : the device can't start.
I've set everything back to default in the bios, tried reinstalling and the problem remains.

Did I just kill my sound card ?

What motherboard is this. Older boards didnt lock the PCI bus at 33mhz. If you raised the FSB it overclocked the PCI bus.

Try another PCI slot?
I already tried that.

It's a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 v1.0.
I don't know if it's relevant but there is an option in the BIOS regarding PCI-e frequency (the tutorial said to set it to 100 MHz) but nothing about PCI...

Yes I tried.
I can install the drivers when Windows detects the card as new hardware but after installation I get the code 10 error.
Otherwise, whether I start the setup from the original CD or the exe from E-mu's website it tells me that no compatible hardware was found and it won't install the drivers.
Does it sound like hardware failure to you ?

I forgot to mention that I have 2 WinXP installed on this computer and the problem occured simultaneously on both.

Does it make sense to downgrade the BIOS back to what it was ?

zomg! one of my favorite motherboards of all time! that thing is pure overclocking goodness, no nonsense. pair it up with some D9GMH and a nicely binned E63/6400 and you've got a stellar overclocker.

So I downgraded the BIOS, formatted a drive and reinstalled WinXP with no improvement...

Any idea ?
