External Hard drive, So when the Hard Drive is plugged in. A password prompt ( or something similar) requires you to enter a password to view the Hard Drive

I found many encryption software but doesn't seem to work this way..

anyone know of any freeware? or in-expensive software that can do this for me?

You could create an encrypted volume and then store all your data on it. Truecrypt is a great program for doing that.
