Is it possible...

If it's not possible to get it to the standard I would still like to know how to get it close as possible.

You would have to end up spending about $275 or so as you would need a new power supply to run the video card.

That is actually the price range I was hoping for, perhaps even in the 300ish range.
Could you recommend a card?

well with a core 2 duo that might have a few issues, especially since it's 2.13ghz, don't plan on maxing them or anything without updating the cpu, and then the mobo might not support quad-cores, and all core 2 quads are expensive too, really i wouldn't put over a 6770 in there cuz it will prob bottleneck it, but john knows more about this so he'll say if this is wrong or right.

I would disagree with that. Most games rely primarily on GPU. Compared to my old 555, which maxed out CoD, borderlands, fallout, with my 570, the core2 is weaker, according to Passmark. But I'd imagine getting a nice GPU on that system will get some good framerates, along with more RAM. I'm not saying BF3 on ultra, but decent enough.
