...to take a server I'm getting from some where, set it up on my network, install some games on it and run them using my main computer? I want it so the server is doing most of work since being a server, it should be some what powerful. I just don't know the specs on it yet. I just want to know if this is possible.

Yes it is possible. Just have to make sure the operating system is not a server OS and you'll probably need a video card.

Do I need a [good] video card or does the server? Because if the server doesn't need one that would be perfect.
