is it safe to leave my computer on over night while connected to the internet? are there any risks? is your computer more likely to get viruses, malware etc?

Unless you leave it on a site that constantly refreashes and might have something that'll infect your PC, or you already have some infection that'll spread, I can't see why it would cause any harm.

It's perfectly safe, the only time I would say it isnt if it overheats very easily.

If you just have it on all night downloading a file, or doing something else, it will be fine, just dont leave it on websites which are known for viruses and spyware.

well it'll be on sites like this one and other foums and also outlook. thanks for the help.

also one other question, i'll just be using all the free anti viruses and firewalls so will that be alright also?

Thats fine.

Personally I've been leaving my computer on overnight for the past week or so, and I dont have a firewall or AV enabled (installed, but not active), and I havent had a single problem.
