is it true?

I have heard over clocking Pentiums is not safe, is that true? I know I have more then efficient cooling and my motherboard supports overclocking, but I am not sure if it is safe.

pentium chips are safe to oc if u kno what u are doing... from my personal experience i find amd chips are more stable when pushed to higher frequencies...

some people may dispute that tho... :(

it is also important to adjust other hardware devices according as u change the processor settings... it is very important to keep the computer cool

these two things are where novice overclockers often go wrong...

It is pretty much safe as long as you dont push them too high. I think it is the prescotts that get really really hot when oced, but you should most likely be fine.

Just overclock a little bit at a time. Pentium 4's are built so that if the chip overheats too much to function properly, it downclocks way down to safety (it might need a reboot of the operating system (freezes) + lessen or undo overclock settings). Pentium 3's were built so that if the heatsink fan combo were to be removed (or if the processor overheated), it would downclock and freeze the OS (reboot needed). No harm will be done if you overclock little by little (i.e. don't set it super high all at once).
