Is it worth it to upgrade from 1680x1050 to 1920x1080?

I own an HP w2207 22 inch monitor. (Details here: http://www.amazon.com/HP-W2207-22-inch-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/B000OK6T9W)

I have owned it for nearly six years. It is a beautiful monitor with an amazing stand and impressive viewing angles, despite not being IPS/etc. But, I need 16:9 for gaming and 1080p media, and might require a new monitor for that. Should I wait, or upgrade?

Even cheap monitors today can go above 1080, and yes it is worth it. I actually use a TV as my computer monitor that can only go up to 1080p @ 60hz, but considering my viewing distance its a high enough resolution for me.

I'm having a bit of difficulty deciding between:

1) 1920x1080, 120 hz TN
2) 1920x1080, IPS
3) 2560x1600

I love accurate color reproduction. I don't have any business purpose for it, though. I'm a college student. I'll likely be writing papers and playing games.

I don't like FPSes very much, though. Starcraft II is something I'll probably spend a fair bit of time on.

Again, I hate panels with terrible color.

2560x1600 monitors are a lot of money. I would go 1440p LED.

Go 1920x1080 or 1920x1200. I'd say it's worthwhile. When I upgraded to 1080p about 2 years ago now I was very happy. :good:
