Is it worth?

It is worth it to put in extra money to get a 2.4 GHz core 2 duo instead of a 2.13 GHz intel core 2 duo. Is there a big difference. I'm wanting to use my PC for extreame gaming,videos,music,pictures......

I would say no. The E6400 is better than the AMD X2 5000 (2.6GHz). The AMD X2 5000 is better than the AMD X2 3800 (2.0GHz). Many agree that the X2 3800, at stock clocks, is good enough for anything.

So, an E6400 (2.13GHz) is EASILY enough.

An E6300 is 1.86GHz.

Overall, the performance of a E6300 lies just under a AMD X2 5000 (2.6GHz). So, go for a E6300.

Actually the Core 2 Duo is around equal to that of an X2 4200+/4600+. The 5000+ would still outperform it in most tasks.

Personally I would spend the extra $40 and get the E6400, especially since you arent overclocking. Or you could spend some more and get the E6600, since it also had 4MB of L2 Cache.

yet again, i don't know if i need the E6400, I'm not planning to do any extreme
work on it. HMMM. I don't know! Someone suggested a
AMD athlon 64 3200+64bit. But that sucks. GRrr!! I don't know if i should get E6300 or the E6400.

I would say to get the 2.13 and than in the future if you require more speed from your cpu to overclock, its very easy and within a days time you can learn how to do it with stock cooling. You can reach speeds surpassing the 2.4ghz with a day of OCing, so yes, IMO go with the 2.13. It was enough for me before I overclocked mine, but I want more speed..mooorrree!!!!!!!!!!! AHHAHAHHAHA..

Ahem....
