someone told me that if you keep a laptop plugged in and don't let the battery drain, it will destroy the battery. is this true?

um never heard of that before. I keep my laptop plugged in 24/7. I could be wrong though, dono much about that stuff.

batteries are only supposed to last 500~1000 recharges/discharges. so leave in plugged in as much possible. with li-ion batteries theres no need to drain the battery.

My friend's laptop is somewhat old, a year or two maybe 3. He has his plugged in constantly and when he runs it cordless on a full charge he literally gets like 30 minutes, so maybe it does..

what processor does he have and how many kilowattHours is the battery?

If you leave it plugged in without the battery you would be much safer. Then put the battery back in when you need it.

If you leave the laptop plugged in with the battery in it, it will over charge the batter and decrease how long a charge lasts and the overall life of the battery by a lot.

Well arnt the batteries in Phones nad computers similiar. Dont they both have Lion batters. So if a phone can hold its charge, i dont think a laptop would lose its charge either. Maybe the batteries can get old. Maybe that is the problem.

is not current that hurts the battery but rather the heat generated from the computer. ideally you should store your laptop battery completely sealed and in your freezer.

1. I dont think there is any problem, until the charging circuit goes faulty.

2. Battery will die any way in 1 year time, after which the battery life will decrease exponentially. If u keep it in ur bank locker or attached to ur system.
