Is Linux still unfrendly?

Ubuntu, that's the way to go. It is extremely easy to install things on it as long as it is in the Add programs list. Even if it is not most good Linux programs have an Ubuntu auto-install version (.deb file).

Add / Remove is very limited. You need to use Synaptic.

lol you reminded me of this lady who was telling off a bunch of kids today, and she was telling them that her son "isnt retarded, he's just different"... anyways, i agree. the linux operating sys isnt hard to install at all...

my bro runs linux, and because its a bit easier on the system, his computer battery lasts a bit longer, like 20min.

I stayed up til 4am yesterday playing with Ubuntu which is just awesome. I formated my HDD and installed it on my laptop. Everything is working fine except for ATi video card which it couldn't find drivers to but it still runs very good and with full resolution. I guess I am sold to Linux now (especially Ubuntu). Add/Remove soft is just amazing and I installed all the programs that I wanted to yesterday and all it took is adding and pressing next :) just what I wanted from Linux. Although interface is different from other Linux OS and is somewhat similar to Mac OS its still a really good OS and has all the features that I wanted an OS to have.

ATI uses a shell script to install their drivers. So download the drivers off their website and store them somewhere.

then open up terminal and do this:

sudo sh /path/to/atiscript

That will run the ATI driver installer and you will just need to pick what model of card you have.

MY card is ATI 9000 AGP
 
that is strange perhaps the driver isn't supported to that card.

Do you even get the little penguin ATI wizard that pops up ?
