Hi I am planning to buy a laptop computer for home use and for my work.

I have been using iPhone and iPad for years but I never have any MacBook.

I'd like to know

1. Is MacBook of any models (or of a particular model) good or bad for long-term power-on? (Most of the time I will not shut down the computer, but I can keep it not being brought around)

2. Which model of MacBook is the best for typing? (I will type a lot) I have tried the new macbook of 2014 but it doesn't look like to have a good keyboard for typing.

3. Which model is the best for me according to the above requirment?
or should I try Lenovo Carbon or anything else?

I usually power off my laptop when I am not using it for an extended time, dont know if any one performs better than another
Go in store and see which one suits your personal preference.
I dont like the new macbook, I think it is a bit flimsy.
I also don't like the macbook air, very poor display.
If I were to chose one, I would go for a macbook pro with retina display.
It all comes down to what you will be using it for, and how important having a thin light form factor is.

Is there a reason you never turn your laptop off? Is it because it takes a while to turn back on? As long as the laptop is sleeping, such as it's closed, it will be fine. No laptop is really meant to be on 24/7.
