Is my CPU underclocked?

Do you have CPUz on that PC? If so open it up and look at the ''mainboard'' tab, and look to see what Bios version it has. It will be either F2 through F5, something in there.

Well, from the date of the Bios it must still be the original F2, so it really really needs a bios update and you'll probably be able to get HT and possibly even that CPU working to full capacity. Even though certain CPU's aren't officially supported they sometimes work anyway.

I just don't know why the bios won't update in the Qflash utility in the Bios, it doesn't make sense. You extracted the files and there was a 8i845gv.f5 file on the desktop? And thats the one you selected in Qflash that said it wouldn't work? I don't mean to sound condescending, but you self admitted you'd never done it before so I don't mean anything by it just making sure.

I understand, definately I'm new to this stuff, but I tried the aplication that came with download and I tried the one in bios and I even tried gigabyte's "@bios" bios updater. They all said the same "incorrect file size" error. I think mabey gigabyte screwed up, but I doubt they'll care if I send them an e-mail asking for explaination.

I'm XP. I'll send 'em an e-mail tonight. Thanks for your help. I'll post if and when they respond.

This is what I said.

Question : The Bios update downloads for this motherboard don't seem to work. The in the flash update utility, it says "incorrect file size, download the 4mb bios file" it does the same thing when I try to update in bios.

*sigh* stupid tech support morons.

ASRock's tech support is so much better. Well, try again with a response to that retarded email.

Dear Customer

Please look at the model # which is printed on the board itself, is the model correct?
You can also go into bios and press F9 for system information and check the model # there as well

Getting better I suppose.
