just some more info I had a program called spyware terminator instaled and it realy sucked it slowed down computer real bad And i got pretty good computed I also had it in dads computer and i had to do windows vista repair on it because it was missing windows start files. but on my computer cant even boot to repair or reinstall xp because it hangs. also I had an external back up harddrive and it had some downloaded movies and it backed up both computers. could it be a virus or something that spread from one computer to another

Pull all cables and peripherals off your mobo (front panel, usb, ide cables, sata cables, everything except your power and try to boot. It may be hanging on a bad drive or shorted front panel/usb cable. If its still hanging with no peripherals connected, your board is done. Especially if you are getting the splash screen.
