Is my motherboard dead?

Hi,

Recently, my computer starting having problems with restarts. Windows would shut down successfully, and then the computer would just shut off. Later in the week, the problem occurred occasionally on even a regular start up. I pressed the power button, the lights came on, fans spun up, and two seconds later it just shut down. Now, no matter how many times I try, it will not even make it to post. I had been running this set-up for six months without problems until last week. I was told it could be a bad power supply, since I was running a crap logisys unit. But even after upgrading to a 750 watt cooler master, the problem persists. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It's not necessarily the motherboard, but the way it sounds like it's not even making a POST beep makes it sound like it is.
Have you got another one anywhere to test your other components?
Also you could have a look inside the case and make sure there is nothing shorting inside.

It is definitely not shorting, that was the first thing i checked. Also, I have already tested the other components in another computer. Unfortunately, this is the only amd system i own, so i can't test the motherboard or the cpu separately. However, when i disconnected all of the components, including the processor, and tried to turn it on, all of the fans and case light remained on until i pulled the plug. I'm not sure if this is normal or not, but i thought i would mention it.

Well, there's also a power supply built onto the motherboard.. It's easy to find by the cluster of capacitors. Check them and make sure they're still good, not bulging, discolored, etc. You can also check the brand against known bad capacitors.

i suggest u should check if there is no any other alien metalic object on the board,as the contact of such metals with the board may cause it to malfunction.
