Is my pc bottlenecking?

just to clarify I want to get 250 fps for promod. in cod 4 jump height reload speed and other things are increased if you have a framerate of 125, 250, or 333.

my specs are:

intel core i5 2500k @ stock
8GB adata DDR3 1600 @ stock
Sapphire HD 6950 2gb
700 watt coolermaster
Gigabyte P67A-UD3-B3

even on the lowest settings and resolution I can't get 250fps. Am I bottlenecking somewhere. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling my graphics drivers several times, and I am using Paradox's config for cod4.
thanks for any help

what frame rate are you getting?

And i am unsure, but I would think that by answering this question, we would be aiding you in cheating the game.

Setting your frame rate to 125 or 250 to these numbers is not only accepted in cod4 promod it is necessary as everyone does it. If you don't do it you will be at a disadvantage. 333 is the only frame rate that is banned because it gives too much of an advantage. I want to be able to get 250. I have already tried setting the max_fps and turning of vsync. On the highest settings i can get 56-60, on the very lowest setting I can get 125 fairly consistently. You have to get an exact, consistent frame rate or else it won't run smoothly (yes I know this is obvious).

try bumping the multi on your proc a couple to see if that nets any increase. You may be limited by the GPU. Try getting another and setting them in CF.

And, not trying to call you a liar, but FPS increase is probably not going to net a large increase in game. You will see no difference between 60 and 600 and 6000.

I actually have already tried bumping the multiplier on my cpu, and it didn't nothing noticeable. Also having one of these frame rates actually does improve performance quite noticeably. The reason it does this is that cod4 is based off of the quake engine which has a max frame rate of 1000 fps. If you divide that number by any integer you will get a "sweet spot". This is a well known concept in the cod4 promod community.

Go to the device controller and see if you can disable and force lower some of the settings, I know the nvidia control panel can do this

How would this be cheating? Rules are COMPLETELY server dependent and the game itself lets you set a max fps iirc.

/com_maxfps amount

That sets your framerate. Though PB will kick you from most servers if you have it too high. Also, while it may speed up your jumping and reloading, it can cause lag issues from your fps suddenly rising and falling. Your best bet is to find your average fps and set the limit to it.

Other useful commands:
Draw your FPS on screen:
/cg_drawfps 1
Draw your Lagometer on screen:
/cg_drawlagometer 1

I play it with all settings turned up, and v-sync on, and get flawless play. If you're getting more than 60fps, you're fine.
