is my pc good for gaming?

OK, I skimmed some benchmarks and the Sempron 3400 is about 20FPS slower in most games than the Athlon 3700.

I found a Benchmark using the 7600GS in an Athlon 64 5000. In FEAR(1280x960, no AA no AF) it got 38FPS. So, at this resolution, I wouldn't expect more than about 15-25 with the Sempron...

I know it's not really what you were looking for, but that's what I found. I'm bad at just rating systems :P

lol im planning to get atleast a total of 2 gigs of RAm and the AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ dual core processor.

that might improve something

Well, I was partly wrong... I just found an Socket AM2 version of the Sempron. Still, you need to check what socket your Sempron is. I know that model comes in socket 754 and socket AM2(some older semprons were SocketA) The Athlon X2 4200 comes in Socket 939 and Socket AM2. So, if you have a socket 754 Sempron(which is what I suspect you have) you'd have to change out the motherboard.

Easy way to check if you don't know, download CPUz. It'll tell you the socket.

Yes, that was an edit. And you might of just run into another problem. If you're using a Compaq, I have heard they aren't duel core compatable. However, I'm not totally sure about this. Which, I just found info on that which says it is... Maybe mine was the model before and it wasn't compatable...

And, I'm not doubting what you posted, but man, I can't find anything about a Socket 939 Sempron!
