Why'd you ask if it's good? It's a good CPU by the way but it's been superseded now, just like my i5 760 has.

Simply put no. Its slow clock and IPC and the fact very few applications can take use of the 6 cores. Its about the same speed as a dual core i3, but slower in gaming.

How do i fully take advantage of 6 cores?
You have to be using applications which take advantage of 6 cores, which most don't. Most games use 2-4 cores as do most modern applications, so really, unless you are multi-tasking like mad, a hex-core CPU can be a bit pointless, BUT your Phenom II X6 is kind of future-proof becase it has six cores.

so it will have more of a use in the future!
Should do but by then real octa-core CPUs will be here (not "octa-cores" that are really quad-cores with four virtual cores) and when applications start to use six cores your Phenom II X6 1055T will probably be a bit outdated. It's like trying to run a program that relies heavily on four cores on an early Phenom X4, it would probably struggle even though it's a quad-core, or doing the same with a Q6600 in two year's time.

i am using this computer for internet, gaming (average), multitasking and it runs great although i now believing my PSU is failing :/ i dont know what voltage it is and have not taken the time to look, my issue is on windows is loading screen it will crash then restart then it will load up to desktop, then it says windows recovered from a crash. But it only does this when i first tunr my computer on :/ so is it something to do with heating up?

Unless you're doing serious encoding or CPU intensive tasks, it's fine. Bigfella is I think personally used to really powerfull hardware. Sure it may not be the best, but it's not bad by any means. Or weak. If you want some more kick out of it, buy an aftermarket CPU cooler and overclock it.

Some people on this forum like to spend a lot on hardware. I prefer to buy decent quality stuff and save my money for investments. Computer parts don't appreciate in value but gold and silver coins sure do. Usually you upgrade at least once every four years.

Hopefully AMD comes out with something better than the present FX series of their processors in the next four years.

Yeah I agree. I'm afraid that my whole "future proof" plan when I was building my computer doesn't fall through. I built mine about a month before Bulldozer was released. Every one though it would be awesome so I made sure to get a compatibly motherboard. Now it looks like I shouldn't upgrade.

Hopefully their new line will be AM3+ socket but I kind of doubt it.

The Phenom II 955 should be a good processor for years to come providing you are not using software that requires some major processing power.

AMD will very likely come out with something better before the Phenom II is obsolete.
