Is my PSU wrecked?

I hooked my psu up and nothing happens, it's a 20-pin, my mobo's a 24-pin, but it should still work right? And if i just plug the psu into the wall and unhook all the things from the psu to the pc, and then turn the psu on, nothing happens, the fan or lights don't come on, is my psu broken?

it's a brand new psu, i switched cables, same thing, it makes a low buzzing noise, but that's all it does.

it should have a 4 pin connector to plug in somewere on the mobo, make sure that the 4 pin from the PSU is plugged in too

Haha, yes, i turned it on, that's why it was making the buzzing noise i spoke of .... lol. I think i am sending it back for a refund. The 4-pin was also connected. What is a good psu for a DFI LP SLI-D mobo? 80 is my budget. Thanks

If i hook up the PSU the wall and into nothing else, and then turn it on, should it at least come on? like should the fan start? or should it just sit there?

Okay, thanks, so it might not be messed up, i might just need a 20-pin to 24-pin connector, right? or will it work by connecting my 20-pin psu to a 24-pin mobo?

I know this sounds really dumb, but I had this problem....A little history first...I built my computer, checked everything, and it was good to go...I plugged it in, turned it on, and there was a huge spark from the PSU...I posted on here a ton, and sent the PSU back and got a new one (it turned out that my original PSU's warranty seal was never put on, and it must have been a faulty one to begin with). I got my new PSU, put it all together, and turned the PSU on. My fans twirled for 2 seconds, the light on my mobo came on, but nothing else happened. I got all freaked out, thinking my mobo and everything was fried from the first spark....Then I realized I had to push the button on the front of the computer, the on/off button...Man, I felt like an idiot...Just thought I'd share that story, to make sure your not doing the same thing....Have a good night,
Derek
