Is my RAM failing on me??

I Keep getting this warning thing pop up every now and then for different programmes and firefox keeps closing due to a failure or something. its so annoying and im geusssing its the ram.
(is a dell latitude d630, 2gb ram )

PLUS! I SEE THESE RANDOM EXE'S RUNNING IN MY TASK MANAGER FOR EXAMPLE:

Sounds like you have/had a virus.

I don't see any Anti Virus Icon in your task bar...

Personally, I'd grab my OS install disc and try to
do a repair of the install. If that doesn't work,
then I'd back up all my important stuff and reinstall
from scratch.

Reason why i dont have any av icon in the task bar is coz this is a fresh install of xp! -_-
ive only installed the esentials and i always back my bookmarks up if you're wondering why theres so many.

im starting to think that i hav a virus hidden my my work files. -_-

Another thing i noticed is that i hear random noises like the ones you get when you get an error or a baloon tip come up but theres nothing there?

So anyway, I think you may be right about some of you files being infected.

Where do you keep your "work files" when you do a reinstall? External?

Here's the order I would do it:
1. Backup files to an external or internal second drive.
2. Reinstall OS
3. Install Antivirus software
4. Scan all my documents with said software
5. Restore documents
