I have had a Samsung SyncMaster 753DF CRT monitor for a number of years now (around 6-7). It worked great with my old Pentium 3 system and is now part of our second family system.
In the last few years every once in a great while the screen would turn pinkish and the colors would turn florescent bright. It wouldn't last long and for long periods never occur. In fact for the last year it was always clear -- until yesterday and today.
The sheer pink is ever present. No settings were changed. No power failures to speak of or hard reboots. It remained so until my son hit the back button at one point. It turned back to normal diusplay but eventuually the pink came back.
Any ideas that might correct this? I am fairly sure I will have to buy a new monitor and so be it but if I don't have to spend the money so much the better.
I am not enamored with widescreen models because what I have seen with my own eyes the clarity and color were underwhelming. My 17" Viewsonic LCD 5:4 is very clear and crisp; it is four years old. If I buy a new monitor I'll install the Viewsonic on the rig that ran the Samsung CRT.
Any suggestions for a monitor widescreen or non-widescreen? Budget would be $200 give or take $10. I will game and 1280x1024 resolution is quite fine by me.
Thanks.
