is retail necessary? vs oem.

Ive seen oem hard drives are alot cheaper than retail drives, do they not come with the cables or something?

No Cables Just the drive. But your Motherboard usually come with cables. Better off with oem. You just dont get the pretty box.

OEM is fine. If you get retail you pay for a pretty box and manual.

yea, but sometimes i see that OEM's that cost more than the Retail it self..... now isnt THAT wierd.....

some oem's only have a 1-3 month warranty so you have to be careful, retails are usually 3 or 5 year

I was just about to mention that... Always check the warrenties. But yeah, I tipically go with OEM if it's sometime I don't beleive will mess up. Processors are usally ok as OEM as retail heatsinks suck anyway ;P I think my HD's were OEM...I hope they still have WD's 5 year warrenty!
