Is SnapaShot as good as they say?

I am starting a new design project at my university, and I need to make a lot of screenshots. I have never done anything of the kind before, so I'd prefer to try some officialy free soft. One friend recomended me SnapaShot, but I don't know anything about it. Is it as good and quick as they say? Has anyone used it before? And at last, is there a Mac version?

Can't macs do that without extra software? On a pc you just hit the print screen key and paste it into a new paint file or gimp etc
