I was all for the 8600 GTS until i found this:

XFX GeForce 7950 GT / 512MB DDR3 / SLI Ready / PCI Express / (Dual Link) Dual DVI / HDTV / Video Card

Even a review on the 8600 GTS said that the 7950 GT is much better than the 8600 GTS.
Being the same price I really don't know which one i'd choose?

I also have another option to choose for christmas:
I was thinking of either getting the 8600 GTS or the 7950 GT but then i found the XFX GeForce 7300 GT 512MB DDR2 on tigerdirect for only $50!

I was figuring that I could buy 2 of these and link them for half the price of the 8600 GTS or the 7950 GT. Would this be a better option than the 8600 GTS or the 7950 GT?

Thanks

A simple answer, the 7950 GT is a better performer, but the 8600gts has DX10, but considering the 8600GTS wont be able to play DX10 games very well, i would go with a 7950 GT for now, or wait and save up for a new 8800GT!

I think that card's price will skyrocket in the end. That card definitely performs better than the 8600GT. I would try and bid for that card. For anything under $US200 is worth it, and with the Aus against the USD so high lately its definitely worth it.
