Is the 8800GTX worth buying?

Been eyeing it and i have money if i want to buy it,no idea if its worth it or not, looked at benchmarks but they havn't completely convinced me,anyone want to put some input in?I've got an x1950XTX...will i even see a large difference or would i just be seeing the same old performance or a minimal difference?

Wait for ATI's R600 to come out. The difference between the 8800GTX and your current GPU isn't enough to warrant an upgrade.

I dont think it is worth buying cause your videocard can play all the games right now at pretty good settings. i would wait tell the ati's new videocard comes out and then buy that.

The x1950XTX is still a great GPU, it would be pointless to buy the 8800GTX right now since the R600 is almost out.

well the reason i'm thinking about it because my x1950xtx can just got to my lower end rig,i've got 4 computers and i just do chain processes with my parts. Is the R600 going to kill the 8800GTX?

Why do you need 4 computers? If you have one high end, then you can use it for everything.

And yes, the R600 is suppose to kill the G80, but we need to wait and see.

This computer is in my rec room, one in my basement as a server, one in my room back at home(i spent alot of time there, considered my backup to my current rig) and one in the office upstairs. I want to upgrade the x850Xt in my pc at home to this one and upgrade to a new card so that i can be ready for the newer games to come on both. And the old card in my pc at home will go to the office pc and from the office pc to the server or sold to someone.

Isnt that always with competing companies, thet their product's are supposed to kill eachother? :P :D

Shoppin like crazy

Rich one.

Or just addicted. I have my PC. My roommate has a PC. My old AMD 64 3200 just runs F@H and does my downloads and burns my DVD's mostly. Then we have a media PC P4 3.0GHZ with 1GB ram and GeForce 6200 128MB AGP in a shuttle case. Our other roommate moved out and took her C2D with her :( . Lost 2 CPU's for F@H.

I would wait too unless $ is ZERO concern as the R600 will likely drive the 8 series prices down AND there are 9 new 8 series cards being released soon. Really is up to you.
:)

Arch ~ I do think all companies "claim" their products "kill" the other companies but it's not always the case. :P

Hmm okay thanks,i'll hold off on it for a while

And just so you all know,i'm not rich, just have divorced parents + a job so they kinda buy me stuff in a way to win me over in a sense...also with a job i always have money lying around.

Thanks for the input guys.

Another comment ChickingWing... My rig cost around $1500 but it puts yours to shame in terms of gaming performance :D (minus the monitors).

A very rash remark. I am surprised that you made it. Yours stock to his stock would be a tight competition.

Probably but i'm happy with my C2D x6800 and the rest of the setup, and yeah it probably was a good waste of money but ah well :P btw, nice setup.

I said in gaming, because I know the other specs on his are a bit better.

Did you even overclock your X6800?
