I have a XFX HD5850 Black Edition and I want to know if the Zotac GTX295 x2 will be a better or bigger upgrade.

will it be a good idea? I know there isnt a real good compare but can anyone help please.

the gtx295 trades blows with the 5870, and the 5870 is about 10% faster than the 5850.so no, it wouldent be a big jump in performance.if you already own the 295 than yeah use that instead, but if you are going to buy a 295 if wouldent be worth it by a long shot.

you would be going from a dx11 card to dx10...

if you are confident enough you could flash the 5850 bios with a 5870 to unlock the card for further overclocking.

i wont show you how to do this or tell you but all i will say is google it and look into it.

in my opinion the 5850 with a slight overclock using dx11 will show nice detail in every game garanteed so why go down to an older gen card??

- if you flash the bios it brings the 5850 very close the the 5870 performance which is up to the gtx295 standard.

the gtx295 card is a dual gpu card which runs very hot and consumes alot of power and its behind in that it is not dx11

I was on my way to swop the HD5850 for the GTX295. I've looked at benchmarks and some tests and it is quite a bit faster but ja like everyone says the tech on the HD5850 is much newer and better..

well the way too look at it is...

gtx295 will get you higher fps but in lower detail, it will also produce more heat and consume more power.

you can crossfire the 5850 in future, gtx295 in sli cause alot of problems and would need a failry powerfull psu
