Is the I7 the nail in the coffin for Amd procs.?

Yeah I hope it isnt the end because even though I have always had Intel (even in 2000 when the Amd's were good I had intel),I know if Intel is the only producer of CPU's that the prices would get ridiculously high,I have read that the Denab is looking like it will not even be close to competing with the I7's
 
amd is nowhere near to actully losing all its market share, they are actully gaining in the server market, and to be honest, thats where the money is
 
I reckon when AMD has finished beefing up ATi, they will return and return strong lol well heres for hopeing haha.

i dont want amd to be put out of business cuz i know intel will have everything priced crazy high and stuff so lets just hope amd pulls out a wildcard that will keep things flowing
 
hopefully they will pull off an equivalent to the 4870...

im an intel boy, but its better for the consumer to have competition
 
I really hope AMD doesn't fail, which I doubt will happen with how much money they're pulling in with ATi cards. If AMD can no longer make processors for some strange reason Intel would have a monopoly, and we would see the government step in. Intel would be split into 2 or 3 smaller companies like what happened with AT&T a few years ago. AMD needs to come out with something good to keep the competition up and the engineers and researchers going ahead at full steam.
 
is there not always a cheaper brand and a more expensive brand in just about everything we buy? I'm thinkin AMD is just gonna take the "cheaper brand" place which isnt really a bad thing, cuz not everyone has money to buy an Intel cpu that cost as much as an entire AMD system.

AMD is already the cheaper brand. The problem for AMD is that Intel C2D and C2Q prices are dropping very quickly. Intel is looking to dominate the budget market. For example, you can get an E7200 (better than an AMD X2 6400+) for $120 and with a good board it can go to 4ghz without much trouble. No AMD cpu can beat that in the price/performance deptartment.
 
My partner just texted me to tell me we just received 4 brand new Phenom 2 cpu's.

He is AMD fan so he's pretty ampped!!
