Lol, I'd have to say I've never seen a PSP vs. Laptop argument. If you want a portable gaming system, your choices shouldn't be between a PSP or a laptop. Consider a PSP, DS or GBA. Do some research. To answer your question, I'd say it's worth it. Obviously not everyone shares that opinion, but theres nothing new about that.

unless youre out all day or you're parents are like "lol no lappy for you nub" on long trips, and you want to watch movies, listen to some music or play some games, PSP might be the way to go. Plus whos damn parents would buy a freakin lappy for their kids birthday? So yeah PSP would be worth it even if you dont get a lot of money to save. oh and i agree, I think the PSP is worth it.

My cousin's laptop needed a new hard drive. He somehow convinced my aunt to by him a brand new laptop.. $1,600 (USD) later, my 15 year old cousin has a new laptop. His birthday is not till January. I guess she will be buying him a brand new Dodge Viper or Porsche 911 Carrera when he turns 16...

Well I can get the car but the lappy is just whack. and SFR, pm on how he did that, or anyways of doing that. Man, my parents dont even spend that much on christmas, and i have a brother also :P

when i posted this thread i thought the psp was totally stupid, im just seeing wat other people thought. and do u think there is any way to get a movie on my pda's internal memory? i think its like 32mb or is that not possible?

that's probably not enough memory, you'll need an SD card or w/e form of expandable memory your PDA takes.

yea thought so. one of the only reasons im looing to the psp is because some good games are coming out for it. like gta liberty stories, i think thats wat its called. i love the gta franchise and this is a definite plus. does anyone know of any better games coming out?

the psp is aweosome has good graphics and good games but it is not worth 250. i have it and now i wished i would never had bought it cause i want to get a new computer but i arledy have 450 into it with the games

No way. Waste of $$$. Oooh, wow, it plays games, so do laptops. Ooooh, it plays DVD's, so do portable DVD players. Oooh, it plays music, so do Ipods. Biggest waste of money ever, you have better things to do with your loot.

Goo go buy an ipod, labtop, and a oprtable DVD player cheaper then a PSP, you contradict yourself there.

I agree that is it a waiste of money though, I didn't like mine and sold it.

i wouldnt rule them out yet but i would wait for the next gen ones to come out. despite what everyone sais about the laptops, you cant carry one around in your pocket and whip it out on the bus. the games are good but the movies are nt worth it. again the portability beats a laptop anyday

Games are too expensive, Movies are too expensive, they make there own memory cards which aer too expensive, but if all that was cheaper, i would probably get it.

i wouldnt waste my money on a umd movie disc, thats just stupid. if anything i would invest in a large memory stick and store like family guy episodes if anything.

I have one and love it. And there is noway you can compare a laptop to a PSP....totally different!!! Laptops will far surpass PSP's anyday, thats a fact! I don't think the umd movies are worth it either, cause they are only PSP compatiable. get a 1GB card(get a bigger one if available), and you can upload songs, music videos, movies, anime's, TV series, etc.... on it and switch off with other media on your main computer hard drive when needed. you can also upload emulators to play nintendo, sega, atari, etc... games on it. not to mention, the orignal sony psp games are awesome as well. In my opinion, the best portable media hand held so far. I use mine to play games while sitting around waiting for things(like movies to start at the theater, picking up my girlfriend from college, etc...), or in the gym to watch videos while I'm doing cardio on the treadmill. I agree, things get expensive with the PSP...but depending on what you will use it for, it could be worth it, or it couldn't be worth......me myself find it worth it. I have the PSP, 1GB card, and 1 game(world championship poker)...and I love it.

i believe the PSP is worth it.
i will probably be getting one for christmas.....i mean, my laptop is awesome, but its kinda hard to play games in the car with it.......a wireless mouse helps, but no really good place to place it besides on the right side of the keyboard if u are playing fps's

i will deffinetly like the portablily of the psp and socom is coming!

Its kind of hard though, here theres a lot of computer gamers. But people who dont play on the computer as much would think PSP is great. I play on the computer and I love it. But when im on trips, I like to play some new stuff. So I can play some DS or read some books. Im probably going to add the PSP to my collection later at christmas. So really if this were a gaming board not meant entirely on computers, more people would probably say its worth it. And if you think I shouldnt get a PSP for xmas, PM with what I should get. And no it cant be more than 500 dollars :P

It's not too fast, but that doesn't really mean it's "slow" or lacking performance. I thought it was like 333MHz, but that is probably wrong.

Didd you guys knwo there are numerous "hacks" for the PSP, that enable many features? I seen you can overclock it, and other stuff. Don't talk about the illegal ones though, there are plent yof legal "hacks" like overclocking and such.
