I've read the HD 101 and i see the raptor II is better than the maxtor 10, but is thge raptor 1 is the same as the maxtor

I don't get it, raptor 8mb and raptor II 8mb are the same i think but 1 is 37gb and the other is 73gb, on that graph it shows that the raptor II is faster, is it because it has more gb?

And also i was wondering if the Western Digital 7200RPM 16mb cache SATA is the same as that Maxtor 10 that had 16mb cache?

the raptors run at a spindle speed of 10k rpm, whereas all other drives run at 7200rpm, so raptors will alway preform better, cache isn't all that important. but my 15k SCSI drives will fry any raptor any day! :D

ok so cache don't matter, it just matters on the rpms? The more rpms the better like your 15k rpm?

well the 15K drives are in a dell 1850 Server, and SCSI really isn't practical for desktop use. in terms of the desktop preformance, the Raptor is the best.

heh, and my 8gigs of solid state memory will DESTROY you scsi! :P

I have two Raptors (74gb) running in RAID 0 and it is insanely fast. I installed Windows in about 11 minutes. Installed SP2 in about 5 minutes. I absolutely love these drives. Only downfall is they can tend to be quite loud but that does not bother me in the least bit.
