P PC eye banned Oct 5, 2006 #2 Nero offers a few freeware utilities for examining cds and dvds as well as read and write speeds along with the softwares installed. http://www.burnworld.com/software/cdrburning/cdrtools.htm Most freewares will simply tell you the read speed while most diagnostic programs are retail. Lite On offers one program to try out at http://www.cdfreaks.com/software/43
