Is there a significand difference between the Intel core 2 duo e6600 and the e6700? I am asking this as Im buying a pc with e6700 processor and am looking to save some money. Are there any advantages, apart from speed, with the e6700?

nope and the speeds really aren't that big of a difference either but for some reason the e6700 is about $200 more

Ya I would get the e6600, the small frequency difference isn't worth it. And they both have 4MB of cache, while the e6400 has 2MB. I would go e6600, since it still benches above a fx-62.

The is a difference, how ever it is only a clock speed as they are the same chip with a different clock speed.
E6600 Vr E6700
9% Performance increase (clock speed increase)
62% more expensive ($369.99 Vr 599.99)

So....... Price > Performance by almost 7 fold.
Not worth it.

I am just basicaly saying what other have already told you

if you bother to oc it, you can surpass the e6700 quite easily so you can get stock e6700 for the price of a e6600 (i think)

yeah but then you get to the part where the E6700 should be able to OC past the E6600 capability, but once again you get to the %9 part.

Thanks - that was exactly the info I needed. I'll stick with the 6600 :D

Yes the 270MHz is nothing, but as already stated the higher multiplier makes it easier to overclock. You don't need to crank the FSB as much to get a big overclock with the 6700.

overclocking no... not overclocking, 270mhz or so... architecture, none at all.
price mostly if you ask me.

So then why are you getting the E6400? Surely, with your logic, you'd get the E6300. There is only around a 300 Mhz difference in clock frequency between the E6300 and E6400.

Not many people, Cromewell and Jet excluded, have mentioned the multiplier differences. If you're an extreme overclocker, get the E6700 because of the higher multiplier options. However, some may argue that you should get the E6600 if you're going to overclock.

At the end of the day, you're struck for cash anyway so you're going to get the E6600. Just showing you your options ;)
