is there anyway to play Hitman 4 on my 9200

If you have too much trouble with any of the downloadable benchmarks and other types of utilities the best thing is to simply remove it. If you run a few searches you will probably find another similar one that won't be a problem to run on your system. I go through a ton of sharewares and freewares alike to see which ones are even worth the time and effort to save.

ok it's been a long while on this thread but i finally got it to work
well the performance is not very good
but it's not as bad as it was
it's playable
the problem was the sound acceleration
simply disable it or set it to standard rather than full from dxdiag
i just wanted to share this with people who have lower graphics cards
:D

EDIT: i dont know what does sound acceleration has to do with the graphics ,,, so if someone has a better explaination please share it....

yes you can
just add this 'Shaderquality Low' to the HitmanBloodMoney.ini
and set the sound acceleration to standard
and try it

EDIT: sorry set it to BASIC acceleration NOT standard.

Often you will have to lower the sound acceleration due to resource conflicts that arise. Creative's Sound Blaster line of audio cards are noted for pounding on system resources when gaming. Often when you think you need a newer faster video card to play a game just a simple lowering of the sound acceleration in the DXDiag tool will see a rapid improvement when freeing up some resources there. Another thing to consider due to XP's resource sharing problem seen commonly is to move a pci sound card down to the second or third slot away from the vdeo card. You can also try the sound acceleration set to none in the DXDiag in order to see if that helps.

yea 1st i have on-board sound
2nd i tried to cancel the acceleration but i couldn't recognize any words said in the game
so when i set the sound to basic accelereation which is the 2nd lowest level it gives me a good sound with a major increase in performance

That's alright too. Often you simply slide the graphics acceleration down a notch or two when there are problems with games. At other times you simply run everything all the way up. Sometimes it's all the way down or inbetween. Lately I noticed the newer games run far better on the same system compared the problems of lockups with looping sound seen in many old ones.

X300 supports Pixel Shader 2.0, so your fine. It would run it better than a 9200

yea
btw here are the min\rec specs straight from the readme

System Requirements

The minimum system requirements are as follows:

OPERATING SYSTEM:
Microsoft Windows 2000/ Microsoft Windows XP (admin rights required) 95/98/ME/NT not supported. CPU:
Pentium 4 1.5GHz or Athlon XP equivalent
RAM:
512MB system Memory
GRAPHICS:
Direct3D 9 compliant cards supporting pixel shader 2.0 (nVidia GeForce FX or ATi Radeon 9500) SOUND:
Direct X compatible sound card
DVD-ROM:
DVD-ROM drive
HARD DRIVE:
5GB Free Space
INPUT DEVICES:
Keyboard and mouse

The recommended system requirements are as follows:

OPERATING SYSTEM:
Microsoft Windows 2000/ Microsoft Windows XP (admin rights required) 95/98/ME/NT not supported.
CPU:
Pentium 4 2.4GHz or Athlon XP/64bit Equivalent
RAM:
1GB system Memory
GRAPHICS:
ATI X800 series, nVidia GeForce 6800 series, or higher video card
SOUND:
Direct X compatible sound card
DVD-ROM:
DVD-ROM drive
HARD DRIVE:
5GB
INPUT DEVICES:
Keyboard and 3 button mouse

That's about the typical sys requirements seen on most games with the lack of support for the older 9x-ME, NT OSes. Gee someone say ATI 9500 series. Well I guess that covers the Radeon 9550 card here easy enough since it has the 9600 chip in it. :)

ok now it's getting weird
i accidentally forgot to set the sound acceleration to basic and i left it on full acceleration
and the game was fine .. no problems
what is the matter with it ?

Probably a driver glitch or something on that idea. I have some fun with a number of older games that will lock one minute and fine the next. There's one old error message that no one has ever remedied called the "thread stuck in infinite loop". You can play around with sound and video acceleration alike all day long and still see that come up. With Soldier of Fortune II Double Helix you run into "freeze frame" game play often in some maps while others will go through in normal frame rates. The usual problem has to more with game design rather then what video and sound cards you are running. Check the FAQ section at the manufacturer's site for troubleshooting tips. Here's a link for support on all versions of Hitman. http://support.eidosinteractive.com/GI/CustomerSupport/FaqSearch.jsp The downloadable patch to help fix various problems is found at http://support.eidosinteractive.com...roblemType=13&searchText=&game=187&platform=3

If you have integrated sound, then your CPU is being taxed to try and process the sound as well as the game. If you had a dedicated sound card it would be lighter on the CPU side. More than likely that's why it runs worse when you have the sound quality up.

As for the game play, that really can't be helped. It's like trying to run Doom3 on a minimum requirement spec'd rig, it's just NOT going to run at its finest, no matter what you do. Unless of course you can tweak the game engine to be less demanding on your hardware's weak points (which i doubt anybody here could do, including myself.)

yes i have integrated sound
and now i'm having stupid problems
i could go through the guys standing in my way
and when i kill some guard he disappears (which is good for me i dont have to hide bodies anymore :P )
anyway i'll try this patch and see what happens
and thanks for the link PC eye

Your most certainly welcome there. One thing that should be mentioned here is that some sounds(Sound Blaster noted for it.) actually go after system resources. The idea of a vpu chip seen on the newer lines of video cards is there to take a load off of the cpu. At the same time onboard video and sound can also go after resources or even result in conflicts with IRQ channels.

XP's resource sharing will see that often where a sound card or other pci type device has to be moved from one slot to another. What is curious at times is when updated drivers for video or sound cause annoyances. I'll miss the control panel only substitute for the Catalyst control center now that 6.5 is in use here. That kept it simple to figure out if it was video or sound at fault when lags and system locks are seen in gaming.

ok now the game works perfectly smoooooooooooooooth with the new update
just like the old days with Hitman 1,2,3

EDIT : i lost my save games :( i'm gonna play from the start again
i cant believe this

Well? Now you will know to backup game saves to a folder outside of the installation directory. Once one set of game saves has been made I generally burn those to disk and then start on a new set especially if they are custom saves with some interesting effects. At least you are seeing the game normally though. It's a plus there.
