im not asking if i could play the games for them consoles, Im just curious if I could use my laptop as a TV, and hook up my PS3/xbox 360 to it. is there anyway to do it?

my laptop is a E1705 from dell.

Yeah, you need a tuner card. Something I can personally suggest that is good is the Adaptec GameBridge. It's fairly cheap at 20 bucks and works very well. No lag. However, if you are expecting hidef, you might need something else.

There's an adapter for SCART, then just use the S-Video

Looks like that can be used for a converter or inverter, but if you have it set to in, and plug it into a laptop, will the screen actually display the image?

It looks like DVI on the back, is that what it is?

If your were to use what Bobo posted above with your 360, you would have to get the S-Vid cable for it which runs $20-30.
